Role Overview
BHP is recruiting a Senior Underground Mining Engineer based out of Perth with Fly-In-Fly-Out (FIFO) site rotation to our Olympic Dam and Western Australia operations. You will oversee ventilation planning, drill-and-blast design, and short-to-medium term extraction scheduling.
Key Responsibilities
- Author short and medium-term stope extraction schedules and ground-support design plans
- Optimize drill-and-blast parameters to improve fragmentation and reduce stope dilution
- Partner with site geotechnical engineers to monitor seismic activity and rock mass integrity
- Mentor graduate and junior mining engineers in mine design software
Candidate Requirements & Qualifications
- Bachelor’s or Master’s in Mining Engineering or related geosciences discipline
- 5+ years underground hard-rock mining experience (sublevel open stoping or block caving)
- Proficiency in Deswik or Vulcan mine planning software suites
- Strong safety commitment adhering to DMIRS mining safety standards
