Role Overview
Shopify is hiring a Cloud Solutions Architect in Toronto to design high-availability infrastructure across AWS and GCP. You will lead Terraform automation, Kubernetes cluster topologies, and multi-region disaster recovery for systems handling tens of thousands of requests per second.
Key Responsibilities
- Author Terraform modules and CI/CD automation for multi-region infrastructure rollouts
- Establish monitoring, alerting, and cost-allocation frameworks using Datadog and OpenTelemetry
- Partner with Site Reliability Engineering to maintain 99.99% core platform availability
- Conduct threat modeling reviews with product security teams
Candidate Requirements & Qualifications
- 6+ years designing and maintaining cloud infrastructure on AWS or Google Cloud Platform
- Extensive experience writing production Terraform/OpenTofu modules and automated pipelines
- Proven experience operating multi-tenant Kubernetes clusters in production
- Degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or demonstrable engineering experience
